About
Atatiana was an aspiring doctor with a biology degree from Xavier University. She was in the process of working in pharmaceutical equipment sales to save enough money to attend medical school. She was the adored baby of a close-knit family and prior to her death she moved to Fort Worth, Texas to help take care of her ailing mother and nephew, Zion. Atatiana was a "gamer" and enjoyed playing video games with her nephew.
Just before 2:30 AM on October 12, 2019, police received a "welfare call" stating that the front door to a neighbor's home was open. Atatiana was at home playing video games with her nephew. One of the responding officers quietly walked to the backyard and after seeing Atatiana in the window began yelling, "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" Within seconds of seeing Atatiana in the window, the responding officer fired a fatal gunshot.
