Kevin Hicks was born in 1972. He was married to his wife Heather Hicks and they had one child.
Heather Hicks, called 911 reporting that her husband was hitting her in her vehicle. When the officers arrived at the scene they asked Kevin to get out of the vehicle. As Kevin and the officer were walking around the car, Kevin began to assault the officer, according to police. The two fell to the ground and the officer fired his gun and killed Hicks. Witnesses say that Hicks may have attempted to gain control of the officer's gun during the fight.
Was justice served?
As of February 2021, justice has not been served. In June 2017 Marion County prosecutors office cleared the case and did not file charges against the officer. An office spokeswoman said that the decision against criminal charges was based on witness statements and video footage.
