Age at Death:
Muhlayshia Booker was born in Dallas, Texas and lived with her sister, mother, and father. During her early 20s, her time was consumed with fighting for transgender rights. As a transgender person, herself, she experienced the hate and ignorance of others and wanted to make the world a safe place for other transgender people. She was close friends with a woman named Ms. Anderson who will forever speak very highly of Muhlayshia and how great of a friend she was to her.
Muhlayshia Booker received many hate messages and death threats for living out her true self. A few weeks before she was murdered, she was attacked in a parking lot and it was all caught on video which went viral. Later that month she was found lying face down in the street, shot in the back. Investigators and police found no connection between the assault earlier the month and the homicide. Her close family believes that the shooter is someone she knew that would not accept her for who she was, but there is no confirmation on that.
Was justice served?
A man was arrested for the murder of Booker and also 2 more other transgender women of around the same age who were shot in Dallas the same year. As of March 2021, there is no update on this arrest.
